CEBIT 2019 is thrilled to announce that Dr. Catriona Wallace, one of the world’s most-cited experts on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the future of customer experience and bot strategy, will present a highly anticipated talk during the three-day B2B Expo on October 29-31, at Sydney’s ICC.
In an insight-led presentation entitled AI: Human + Machine: Who gets the upper hand? Dr. Wallace as a keynote speaker will discuss advances in AI and how it is being used. She will also outline practical use cases, how AI is set to transform the business world and life as we know it, what we can look forward to and what we need to be aware of.
Dr. Wallace said the threat of nuclear war, climate change, and disruptive technologies are the top three challenges the world faces today.
“AI, described as the most powerful force equal in impact to the discovery of fire and the invention of electricity, will increasingly become the primary power driving the massive changes that these challenges will bring,” she said.
With AI set to replace 40 percent of jobs and 30 percent of business interactions in the next five years, and the time of ‘singularity,’ where machines may become ‘smarter’ than humans possibly just 20 years away, the onus will be on people to successfully navigate the fourth industrial revolution.
NSW Minister for Jobs and Investment Stuart Ayres said CEBIT Australia would provide an international forum for technology companies to do business and discuss the future, including the impact of AI and how it can be harnessed to secure new jobs.
The World Economic Forum predicts that while AI will displace some jobs, it will create many more new jobs—a net increase of 58 million by 2022—so we need to make sure our industry is on track to help people transition into new job opportunities as they arise.
Expert speakers on AI, including Dr. Catriona Wallace and also London’s Kriti Sharma, will keep CEBIT delegates up to speed with the latest technology trends so they can position their businesses and themselves for the future.

This will be a timely discussion with AI to also be on the agenda next month, when an NSW AI Thought Leaders Summit is held on November 29, to discuss how the NSW Government can best utilize artificial intelligence for policymaking.
Based in New York and Sydney, Dr. Wallace is the Founder and Executive Director of ASX listed Machine Learning company Flamingo AI—an Enterprise SaaS company in the AI and machine learning field. The business provides a cognitive virtual assistant called ‘ROSIE,’ which helps financial services companies across the world improve online sales conversion rates and the better servicing of customers.
Flamingo Ai is the second only female CEO and chair led business ever to be listed on the ASX. It is also one of the only AI companies listed in Australia. Recently, the company successfully entered the Asian market.
As a high-profile philanthropist, human rights activist and mother of five, Dr. Wallace is also renowned as one of Australia’s Most Influential Woman in Business & Entrepreneurship (AFR), has been inducted into the Australian Business Woman’s Hall of Fame, won Australia’s top Woman in Finance award and is Advance Australia’s winner of the Technology & Innovation award for Australians working abroad.
