The U.S. House Financial Services Committee is planning to hold several crypto hearings in September to get a grasp on several aspects of the crypto industry, revealed a source.

The congressional panel that supervises U.S. securities and most financial products, will hold these hearings. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), who is also the chairman, is retiring at the end of the year. McHenry has reportedly said among his top remaining priorities is settling one of the bills to structure federal rules for crypto.

Reportedly, the first of the hearings on September 10 will be the subcommittee examination of DeFi, a feature of the crypto space that remains at the target point of regulatory bodies.

“September 18 can hold two hearings – one in the morning on the enforcement practices of the SEC and one later on the implications of so-called pig butchering, the practice of posing as a romantic partner to scam people out of their assets”, revealed the source.

September 23 hearing will be of huge importance since that might seek testimonies from SEC Chair Gary Gensler as well as the rest of the five-member commission. The testimonies fit in as policymakers continue to negotiate legislation for the agency’s digital assets jurisdiction in favor of including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in a more significant role.

However, note that there has been no official comments on the schedule planning of the hearings as of yet.
