A page of a notepad with Buy Bitcoin written on it hung behind Janet Yellen, who was then the United States Federal Reserve Chair, was sold for more than $1 million, equivalent to 16 Bitcoin.

Justin, who turned out to be the highest bidder, goes by another moniker, Squirrekkwrath. The Bitcoin auction platform was Scarce City. It continued for seven days and finally ended on the 24th of April.

The auctioned piece was put up by Christian Langalis, who was responsible for the writing and directed it towards the camera before seating himself behind Yellen. The occasion was a House Financial Services Committee hearing in July 2017. He was then dutifully marched out of the premises as it was somewhat unlawful.

Immediately after the incident, there was an increase in Bitcoin trading by 3.7%, which stood at $2,418.

After deducting Scarce City’s 15% fee, Langalis will be left with approximately $875,000, or its equivalent, 13.6 BTC.

Apparently, the written portion was torn off from the pad after that but was stuck once again.

The pad carries a rough scribbling and notes taken about the meeting.

Langalis was known to have made 21 duplicates of the sign and sold them for $51,300 each.

These found their way to the offices of Paradigm Blockchain Capital, Castle Island Ventures and Coin Center, amongst others.

The money received will go towards funding a Bitcoin software project.
