Pride month comes to The Sandbox as the first “hub of diversity, equity, and inclusivity” is set for launch in the Valley of Belonging. Developed in collaboration with People of Crypto Lab, the hub will debut in the metaverse on June 24. The Sandbox has teamed up to celebrate cultural differences and diversity in this “Belonging Week” ahead of its Alphas Season 3.

The Sandbox metaverse has taken the initiative towards strengthening inclusiveness in the crypto space. The initiative comes through a partnership with People of Crypto Lab to host a Web3 event to welcome new users from various communities and backgrounds.

People of Crypto Lab have come together to create what it terms the “cultureverse.” This platform will invigorate the voices and stories to represent diverse communities, including “black and brown women, people of color, and LGBTQ+. It will be a platform for creators, developers, and brands from ostracized communities to represent their works.

People of Crypto Lab has also partnered with various brands to bring exposure to the “Belonging Week.” Thanks to this event, NYX Professional Makeup became the first cosmetics company to enter The SandBox. The event will feature various avatars to break the gender constructs surrounding makeup with NYC support.

These NFT avatars with voxelized makeup will represent a community from the Pride Flag. The collection will have 8,430 avatars symbolic of the 84.3% of the population representing the communities of color and LGBTQ+.

As one of the most diverse NFT collections, this includes more than 36 skin shades and numerous other attributes to depict every ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and cultural identifier. NYC will donate the entirety of the profit from the NFT collection to the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The proceeds may come up to $50,000 at the end of the sale.

The cultureverse will be designed by the top-end game developer Crab Studio. As an inclusive space, the ecosystem will accommodate imagination, creativity, and freedom of expression from all corners. Anyone can visit the “Valley of Belonging” at any time throughout the year to play, express, and socialize.

People of Crypto Lab Co-founder Akbar Hamid said that it gives him immense pleasure to create a safe and inclusive web3 environment for the minorities like himself. After expressing his thankfulness towards NYX Professional Makeup, he further stated expanding the environment with more inclusive brands worldwide.

COO of The Sandbox, Sebastian Borget, believes that the “Belonging Week” falls right within the metaverse’s vision to create a place where everyone feels invited to create, play and engage in any way they want. This event in The Sandbox also includes other community celebrations like MetaPride Land and World of Women, Blond:ish, and others.
