Team CryptoNewsZ is in conversation with Adam Kling, Founder & CEO of Kronoverse and CryptoFights. Adam has been a serial entrepreneur from the age of 17. He has a programming background that gives him the technical eye to deeply identify opportunities in the market and evolve something new from it

Hello and welcome to CryptoNewsZ Adam, would you like to tell our readers about your extensive journey; how did you start your career and what was the idea that kick-started your journey as a serial entrepreneur?

I started out in programming way back in the 1990s and then got my first couple of jobs working at a boring data processing company for AT&T and then a startup building software for contract management. I quickly learned that working on someone else’s dream was not for me. I then started a web hosting company that went very well and sold it several years later. I then moved into performance marketing in the golden age of internet marketing (2005-2010), where things were booming. After that, I took some time to work on my personal ventures before first learning about Bitcoin in 2013. I kept watching blockchain and eventually ended up in the gaming (where I have a long and passionate history) and blockchain industry. Two things that I absolutely love because they are both exciting and cutting edge.

CryptoFights is a strategic turn-based game on the blockchain that gives you the chance to win real money. What prompted your interest to start CryptoFights in the blockchain domain?

Back in late 2017, CryptoKitties started to catch my attention because of the absurd headlines for people trading them. This really interested me that a real use market was formed for trading a digital tokenized asset. After looking around the market and researching what was being done in the space, I felt this was the start of something big (blockchain gaming) and loved the challenge of creating something more forward-thinking.

According to you, what are the significant problems in legacy gaming and eSports?

eSports has been evolving rapidly and thus causing some problems to surface. The problems are not easily recognizable because of the shifting landscape, but they are there if you have a vision for what it could be. The fragmented nature of the industry is creating many new startup companies attempting to solve the inefficacies brought on by the incredible growth of the industry. For example, you have the top esports games like LoL or CS:GO being played by millions of gamers around the world. The developers of those games house all the data and rights to it. Compare that to a game of soccer where the ownership of the “game” is public or open-source. This creates some interesting problems for all the ancillary businesses that want to tap into the industry’s revenues. So you have companies that specialize in data & analytics, tournament operators, sponsorships & advertising, leagues organizations, teams, and so on… They are all trying to fill the gaps created from this new form of competition and entertainment. My opinion is that there is no universal system to connect ALL of these companies or data together.

How is Kronoverse platform solving the existing problems surrounding legacy gaming and eSports?

  1. The Kronoverse platform has a vision where games are no longer completely closed source. We think there is a new hybrid solution.
  2. We can split up the game into the server, game rules + mechanics, and the game client.
  3. Game Rules & Mechanics: Taking the code or math of how your player interacts with the game and making that a signed transaction on the blockchain enables a way to ensure that all players and even the game developers can not tamper with the gameplay.
  4. Game Client: The game client can be a closed source frontend for operating within the game rules that are publicly signed and accessible for anyone to audit or review. This would be the game developers’ proprietary intellectual property. Think of the art, 3d models, sounds, video, UI/UX, etc.
  5. Server: The server that essentially operates the game and decides the outcome should operate in the public eye. The Kronoverse platform actually replaces the networking of legacy games with a transaction model for all game events. In other words, when you make a move in a game, it’s now a public blockchain transaction that can never be altered by anyone using the game rules & mechanics also stored on the blockchain. All moves are mathematically tied to each other similar to a blockchain hash chain. This makes games operate in a new way that makes it more transparent to both the game developers, players, and spectators.
  6. Games should be fun, but competitive gaming should be exciting. Money separates games for fun and professional gamers. Tournaments and matches should have cash prizes. Everyone from rookies to veterans should have their share of prize money, not just the world cups and from the comfort of their home.
  7. Cheating and fraud should have risk. Players will be screened via know your customer and anti-money laundering. So if you cheat or commit fraud, you will be leaving an evidence trail and will eventually be caught by someone watching including gaming regulators. This creates a serious gaming industry where the stakes are much higher and extremely profitable.

What kinds of tournaments do you organize in the CryptoFights platform? What basic criteria do interested gamers need to follow to participate in the tournament?

Currently, there will be perpetual 1vs1 tournaments based on your fighter level. After every win, you will gain XP and can level up your character increasing your fighter skills and traits. In the future, we will have elimination tournaments where multiple players can compete for a larger cash prize.

Adam, is blockchain technology reducing the risk of cheating in eSports? How do you see eSports growing in the next few years?

  1. Yes, it will come with the Kronoverse platform.
  2. eSports will grow because video games are a way of life for everyone growing up. The games industry is eclipsing all other forms of entertainment. I personally think interactive entertainment is more fun and exciting than passively watching a movie.

Security is a major concern looming around the gaming space, how does Kronoverse address the security majors?

We are taking security seriously by creating a system that captures the data needed to identify and catch anyone attempting to cheat or defraud another party. With the Kronoverse platform, you are creating an identity attached to your real-world identity. What you do in the gaming world can have consequences, both good and bad.

The core team always plays a vital role in the success of any organization; how will you describe the team of CryptoFights and Kronoverse?

Our core team has various backgrounds in gaming, backend architecture, and technical projects. We all bring a different perspective to the table and love what we are building here at Kronoverse.

What are your plans for the expansion of gaming platforms? Should we look forward to more updates and the inclusion of more interesting games?

We are looking to start bringing on new games, most likely in the latter part of 2020. We are currently building out all our banking systems for cash in and cash out, server infrastructure, and compliance.

As a serial entrepreneur leading the gaming industry, what advice would you like to give to young entrepreneurs and novices who are looking to start their career in the blockchain gaming or E-gaming Industry?

Just do it. Try and maybe fail or never try and always fail. Never trying is for losers. This is a long journey so you will grow into a warrior. Never give up.
