Famous Computer Scientist John McAfee has gone missing, as per a tweet from his account, currently being operated by one of his close associates. The tweet, posted by Rob Benedicto, claims that McAfee has been detained by authorities.

McAfee has had a serious rift with the US authorities over several issues and has been living in Cuba for the last few years. A few days ago, McAfee tweeted that US secret services agency, CIA had tried to collect him and his wife and that he had to flee in his boat for 4 days. In a sequential tweet, Rob said via McAfee’s Twitter handle, that his detention could lead to severe consequences. He wrote,
If John misses his next check-in, events will be set into motion that I cannot prevent once they have begun. John has secreted data with individuals across the world. I know neither their identities nor locations. They will release their payloads if John goes missing.
McAfee is known for speaking his mind and has been quite vocal about cryptocurrencies as well. He strongly opposes government intervention in private wealth, and hence, is against regulating the crypto industry. He is among the first people in the world who have predicted a million-dollar price for Bitcoin in the next few years.

This wouldn’t be the first time that he has been confronted by the government. However, many still believe that this is a publicity stunt. It is very well known that John McAfee is a US presidential candidate for the next elections, and some say that going missing is just to gain sympathy and popularity.
Moreover, people are debating online on the importance of the documents mentioned in the tweet, which would be released in John isn’t released. Some say McAfee is has nothing substantial, while others say that underestimating McAfee is a big mistake. There are some serious haters too, who want him dead.
