According to the latest reports, blockchain education programs are being introduced at three California Universities. These programs are curated by an eminent blockchain entity with a VC-backing which has previously crafted courses for universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard.
MouseBelt, the only full-service blockchain accelerator in the world, has unveiled its programs on Wednesday, 21st August 2019 at UC (University of California) Los Angeles, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Davis. This initiative by the company will further elevate the academic presence at all these prominent United States schools. As per Dr. Mo Shadoghi of UC Davis, there is increasing student demand for blockchain courses. Shadoghi has been involved with MouseBelt in diverse functions since the last year.
The reports also reveal that MouseBelt is going to sponsor programs from the undergraduate level to the Ph.D. level. The firm has bundled the programs into two. In the first funding, the program will be covering the research work across all the 3 campuses, particularly for the development of blockchain projects. MouseBelt has also set aside funding of a whopping five hundred thousand dollars wherein up to 5 projects will compete for a seed funding of 100,000 dollars. Apart from that, the company is also making a donation to the engineering departments of the three universities.

Ashlie Meredith, the university outreach director, stated on the development that the program is designed for filling the knowledge gap found in the system at the university level. As a majority of the universities don’t hold classes for blockchain, student organizations have to jump in to fill the space. These very student entities went on to become the basis of the current initiative by MouseBelt a little more than one year ago.
In a statement, Meredith also said that they aim to assist these universities in becoming a driving innovation force in the space of blockchain. They also aim towards providing both researchers and students with the opportunities for industry and theoretical experience. For MouseBelt, it is about long-term student development and not just equity holding in triumphant projects.
