Arthur Hayes’ Maelstrom Fund has announced a new grant program to support developers on the Bitcoin blockchain. The program is exclusively for developers on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Grants Up to $250,000
The Maelstrom Bitcoin Grant Program offers developers funding ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 on a 12-month basis.

The program allows for grant stacking, potentially providing up to $250,000 per individual developer. This substantial financial support aims to attract top talent and fuel meaningful advancements in Bitcoin’s technology.
As per the announcement: “The objective of the program is to help with the technical development of Bitcoin and enhance its resilience, scalability, censorship resistance, and privacy characteristics. We have the capacity to support Bitcoin developers and are committed to an open and transparent grant process.”

Grants are issued in Bitcoin, USD Coin, and Tether USDT. Applications are open until August 25. The grants are expected to be awarded in Q3 or Q4 of 2024.
Additionally, each candidate can expect one interview with a review committee member before issuing the grant.
Arthur Hayes, former CEO of BitMEX and current CIO of Maelstrom, emphasizes the program’s commitment to an open and transparent grant process.
The Maelstrom Fund’s move reflects a growing trend of private sector support for cryptocurrency development.
