Zagreb, October 09, 2019—The second edition of the FinTech Conference Shift Money will be held on November 18-19, 2019, in Croatia.
The focus of the Conference will be on the future of money, which includes all changes and trends in the industry in which banks and other classic financial institutions have so far had the main word. Lately, Telecoms, FinTech companies, and startups have been increasingly competing with them by offering innovative products and services, which place clients in preferential positions and allow them to have a simpler and more financially favorable shopping experience, do money transactions, change currencies, and do similar actions.
Banks try to keep up in these conditions and respond to challenges that usually come in the form of mobile and web apps—either on their own or co-operating with existing startups or starting them themselves. It will be also interesting to see what role will cryptocurrencies market have with time, will cryptocurrencies become a relevant mean of payment and significantly compete with classic fiat currencies such as HRK and Euro.

More than 1000 FinTech professionals are expected at the Shift Money Conference. During two days, they will be able to attend lectures and round tables about actual topics from FinTech and visit the fair where around 50 FinTech startups, companies, banks, and other players from the area will be presented. Representatives from famous brands such as Transwerwise, Revolut, and JP Morgan are expected among lecturers and exhibitors.
Mariana Gospodinova spent years in pioneering e-money institutions in UK and Malta, before joining Binance as a COO. She will be one of the lecturers promoting cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Also, Cyril Mathew of Coinbase and Apto Payments’ CEO Meg Nakamura will talk about consumer trends in crypto like spending, saving, rewards, and others.
“After the success of the last year’s Shift Money and a year spent on preparations for this conference, I am convinced that visitors will see one of the best FinTech events ever. I am not surprised of the interest for speakers and partners that have exceeded our expectations because the role of FinTech in society and industry is increasing each day.“–Ivan Burazin, the Shift Money Director.
The Shift FinTech Challenge will also be a part of the Conference. It is a startup pitch competition that will allow participants to present their projects and build a business network, with the emphasis on potential mentors and investors that could help them realize their ideas. The 2019 jury will be made up of representatives of well-known funds like TechStars, 500startups, Plug and Play, and others.
