After US Presidential candidate, Kamala Harris promised encouraging innovations like crypto and AI at a fundraiser event, the crypto community gave mixed reactions on what is considered to be her ‘first time referencing crypto publicly’.
Hayden Adams, CEO of Uniswap Labs, hailed Harris’ stance as he shared, “I believe this is her first time referencing crypto publicly and it’s in a positive way.” When his comment drew criticism, he came with another response:
Lot of people mad in the comments
Yes Biden has been bad for crypto and actions will speak louder than words
But progress is progress, it needs to start somewhere, and should be encouraged
A positive statement on the tech is more than we got under Biden and Trump presidency

However, the negative statements did not stop here. Many crypto users and developers called him out saying it was ‘gullible’ to accept Kamala Harris’s statement.

Coinbase policy director Faryar Shirzad, too, joined the ‘pro-Harris’ bandwagon as he said that Harris’s crypto-friendly statement is important and constructive, because this statement shows the public that she believes that digital asset innovation is very significant, as much as artificial intelligence; and she recognizes that there is a way to promote innovation while protecting consumers and investors. He added, “@JoeBiden let it be known that @SenWarren controlled fin reg, so we had a mindless and destructive multi-year war against US innovation. @KamalaHarris going out of her way to mention crypto should send a clear message that the Biden/Warren era of destruction is over.”
In addition, Faryar Shirzad believes that this statement was made after weeks of contact with her core circle, who are thoughtful and open to cryptos.
However, other crypto users were quick to call out Shirzad’s ‘denial’, as they pointed out the VP is still in the office and can ‘walk the talk’. Some of them also pointed out the difference between digital assets and crypto and added that central bank digital currency (CBDC) could be the ‘digital asset’ she was referring to.
Note that VP Kamala Harris had previously proposed her policy positions for future Presidential administration which included AI but skipped ‘crypto’ altogether. But recently, Trump’s previous aide and SkyBridge founder had revealed that Harris has joined a group of crypto advocates to draft her campaign’s policies on crypto. He also hinted at some of her crypto discussions with industry insiders to be held this upcoming week. Even though it was only a matter of time that Harris addressed the crypto industry, amidst all the buzz, one can certainly expect more crypto gimmicks from both Trump and Harris in future.
