Blockchain Association of Canada Merges with the Chamber of Digital Commerce, the Largest Blockchain Trade Organization

World’s first and largest blockchain trade association, The Chamber of Digital Commerce, has merged with the Blockchain Association of Canada (BAC) and the association will now be known as the Chamber of Digital Commerce Canada. The merger was disclosed via a press release published on the website of the Chamber of Digital Commerce.

The officials are of the opinion that “bringing the two organizations under the same banner sends a powerful message to all the stakeholders and policymakers involved in the blockchain ecosystem.”

Tanya Woods, a legal strategist and the executive director of BAC, was announced as the managing director of the Chamber of Digital Commerce Canada. She will be administering the association’s operations from Ottawa. Woods had previously worked for the Government of Canada and multinational companies like BCE, Microsoft, and Nintendo. She was also involved in driving Canada’s digital innovation ecosystem.

“Canada is a leader when it comes to driving innovation, entrepreneurship and the digital economy, Canada’s blockchain leaders and government would like to see a strong and coordinated blockchain ecosystem that is ready and able to effectively collaborate with policymakers to ensure the industry in Canada will thrive,” said Woods.

“Tanya brings more than a decade of strategic advocacy experience and is a trusted advisor to the blockchain community and the Canadian Government at the highest levels. She is a strong advocate for the Canadian blockchain community,” said Perianne Boring, founder, and president of the Chamber of Digital Commerce about Tanya Woods.

The North American nation hosts some of the most prominent blockchain innovators in the world as per the press release. The country is firmly committed to supporting innovation and the digital economy via a myriad of policies.

Don Tapscott, executive chairman of the Blockchain Research Institute and advisory board member of the Chamber of Digital Commerce feels that Canada is well positioned to be a global leader in the blockchain economy.

“It is critical for Canada to have a unified local community driving blockchain adoption and I am pleased to see the Chamber of Digital Commerce’s investment in the Canadian blockchain economy,” commented Tapscott on the merger.

The Chamber of Digital Commerce was launched in July 2014 and presently, is the world’s largest trade association representing the digital asset and blockchain industry. In just four years, the association has witnessed over 100 percent growth rate. The Chamber comprises of more than 200 companies that are investing in and innovating with blockchain technology.
